My Job

As a Brand Business Manager, my job is to serve as a liaison between the national brand team in Louisville and the sales organization in my division.   As the brand expert within my division, I am responsible for championing the Southern Comfort strategy and translating the national brand plan into effective customized programs for my territory.  As the market expert within my brand team, I communicate information about what’s happening in my part of the country and assist in developing national plans that can both build the brand in the long term and drive volume in the short term.

My Motivation

I enjoy coming to work every day because in this role you get to see up close how a brand plan lives and breathes when it is put into action.  You work with both the theories of marketing and the immediate results of tactics and mechanics.  You have the opportunity to impact the brand’s business in a more direct way. 

My Contribution

I think the best way to contribute to brand building is to find a balance between thinking and doing.  It is important to ask the right questions and to really listen to the answers.  It is equally vital to develop a plan and see it through from conception to completion.  Not every market faces the same challenges and opportunities, so I think I can add value by providing solutions that are both on-strategy for the brand and meaningful for our local teams, our customers, and our consumers.

What I Enjoy About Brown-Forman

The people.  I don’t think it is as common elsewhere as it is at Brown-Forman to say that so many of your colleagues are also your friends.  We work hard, but we also have a lot of fun.

My Environment

The environment here is very collaborative and congenial.  People respect each other, learn from each other, and work together to get things done for the benefit of the whole.

My Opportunities

B-F has provided me the opportunity to follow a less traditional, more robust career path rather than many other companies might allow.  Even though my education and experience have been in marketing, I’ve really enjoyed the chance I’ve had to learn about other parts of the business.
