Living in harmony with nature has been a part of Finnish culture for generations and represents the way Finlandia operates. Finlandia believes the best way to show gratitude for nature's gifts is to use them wisely.

When Finlandia turns the six-row barley into pure ethanol, all by-products are recycled and put to good use. By-products are used for animal feed, while the starches are used to make high quality beer, sweeteners, and binders for food, and coating agents for fine grades of paper.

Conserving energy is a high priority. Throughout the entire production process, energy is used efficiently. Energy is sourced from regenerative peat, reducing consumption on non-renewable resources.

The same water that is used for cooling in the distillation process is also used to heat the production facilities, which greatly reduces the amount of energy waste (heat) that is returned to the environment. By internally recycling water, Finlandia reduces the amount of precious ground water used.
