Energy Management
Technological advances are changing the way we operate our buildings to better manage our energy consumption. Initiatives have included:
- Reducing temperature set points to reduce energy demand
- Installing HVAC controls and lighting sensors to optimize energy usage
- Replacing gas-powered pick-up trucks in Facilities Management fleet with electric-operated club cars
- Installing a "green" roof on one of our buildings, thus reducing the energy required for cooling
As one of our first steps in addressing the issues associated with climate change, Brown-Forman is conducting baseline greenhouse gas inventory. We are measuring green house gas emission from our distilleries, wineries, cooperages, bottling operations and business travel. With an understanding of where our greatest global warming impacts lie, we will focus our efforts to reduce our emissions and take advantage of energy efficiency improvements.
