Brown-Forman Supports Louisville's “Choose Your Ride” Campaign

Louisville, KY, November 26, 2008 — Brown-Forman has announced that it is joining with the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, City Scoot, Yellow Cab Company, and other companies to help fund the Police Department’s “Choose Your Ride – Drive Sober” anti-drunk driving program this holiday season.

As part of the campaign, 5,000 posters will be put up in bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and stores that sell beverage alcohol throughout Louisville encouraging people to find an alternative way home if they’ve been drinking too much alcohol.

“Every drunk driving death is preventable,” said Rob Frederick, director of corporate responsibility for Brown-Forman.  “It’s easy to call a cab or City Scoot – there are options to get home safely.”

The initiative was kicked off yesterday by Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White, who said, “If people are drinking this holiday, we’re pleading with them not to drive.”

Chief White said that in 2007, 2,805 arrests were made in Louisville for driving under the influence and that so far this year, 2,479 DUI arrests have been made.  The goal of the “Choose Your Ride – Drive Sober” campaign to ensure that the number of DUI arrests in Louisville for all 2008 totals far less than last year.
